Friday at the Mathom-House: Nick Keller

Nick Keller is one of the concept artists that worked on TH:AUJ, and he has posted some of his Hobbit work (along with a lot of other great stuff) over at his website nickkellerart.com and shared it with folks at ComicBook Movie. Jump past the break to see some awesome artwork of warg riders, dwarves and lots of weapons and armor:

Desolation of Smaug vLog!

An update from Mr. Jackson himself! Here is the first official video blog for the Desolation of Smaug (the eleventh vlog in total, if you keep track of that kind of thin). What things was I excited to see? Jump past the break to find out!

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug Trailer Recap

So, call me crazy, but the picture above was my favorite shot from the trailer. It's just . . . just . . . awesome. Ruined Dale, Lonely Mountain, dwarves . . . it has everything. And the rest of the trailer? Yeah, it was pretty sweet as well. If you haven't seen it yet, here it is:

Now just jump past the break to see a whole mess of screen shots and my reactions to (some of) them:

First Desolation of Smaug Trailer . . . and its AWESOME!

Enjoy. I'll be posting a review later.

How Big are Rhosgobel Rabbits?

So I noticed that a lot of people were stumbling across my blog while trying to figure out just how big Radagast's rabbits are. Well, I did some quick research (and a little bit of eye-balling the various scenes where the wizard and his fuzzy haulers share the screen) and came up with this little graphic you see above. Jump past the break to see more!

Rankin Bass Dwarves

Just had to repost these images . . . awesome!

Desolation of Smaug Poster!

Finally! Some updates! The trailer is coming this week, and here, for your viewing pleasure, is the first poster for the Desolation of Smaug:

I'm officially getting excited . . . only slightly more than 150 days to go!

Desolation of Smaug Updates: New pics of Tauriel and Post-Smaug Dale!

Has it been a while since I posted? Yes. Definitely. But then again, not much has happened Hobbit-related in a while. At least, not much that I really care about. But just over the past few days two new pictures have been released (see above and below) and rumors are that next week we'll get our first TH:TDSU trailer! So, I guess I'd better start being active around here again.

Friday at the Mathom-House: Abe Papakhian

Friday is here again folks, and this time we're enjoying the amazing illustrations of Abe Papkhian. You can check out all of Abe's work over on Deviantart.com. Continuing last week's theme of hand-drawn art, Abe's illustrations are all pencil or watercolor. Now, I'm not sure if you'll agree, but I feel like there is definitely something Brother's Hildebrandt about Abe's style. I'm a fan. Jump past the break to see even more awesome Hobbit and LOTR art.
