Tons of valid arguments, and a great conclusion about the nostalgia.
That being said, how on earth can one argue that Lurtz would beat Azog? As hinted by Tolkien, Azog may very well be a lesser Maiar, as Gandalf is a lesser Maiar to Sauron. The wicked wisdom this undoubtly brings him, combined with an overwhelming physique makes him a sole number one in my book.

But as I said, very will written and cool!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4815456409511951973.post-56717363285216196672013-11-26T15:08:15.207-08:002013-11-26T15:08:15.207-08:00Personally, I think Azog rocked. I'd have to confirm with a source, though.

Great work on the caps and making the collage. That must have taken a bit of time. I've been meaning to do something like that for some time. First, are you sure the Orkish dialect spoken by Azog and his minions is derivative of the Black Speech of Mordor? And second, did you do the screen caps manually and make the collage afterwards?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4815456409511951973.post-73782741617816943392013-09-13T10:17:01.507-07:002013-09-13T10:17:01.507-07:00Agree . . . I guess I'm gonna have to say Lurtz would win . . . for two reasons: A) he still has both hands; and B) he has a longbow, so he could just shoot Azog from a long ways away. And I'd probably side with Lurtz, cause even though they're both sadistic killers, Lurtz never throws any of his underlings to the wolves.Landonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01377475986639770455noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4815456409511951973.post-43997522448786617962013-09-13T10:12:32.133-07:002013-09-13T10:12:32.133-07:00I don't know about anyone else, but personally...I don't know about anyone else, but personally, villains usually end up close to the top of my favorites list just because of the amazing degree of actual ways the bodies work in the animation. Azog is definitely a well done character. I think the movie creators intentionally make the villains really well animated for when hate like this comes up.Driryadhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06652907548510103683noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4815456409511951973.post-53543890171106227822013-09-13T08:28:52.281-07:002013-09-13T08:28:52.281-07:00Well said sir... And I hope my post isn't construed to mean I didn't like Lurtz, or that I didn't like the Fellowship of the Rings (quite the opposite . . . FOTR is still my favorite of the LOTR and Hobbit films). Sometimes I just wonder if people are letting their nostalgia get the better of them, and kind of inflating their memories of how cool Lurtz was. Of course Azog isn't going to be able to compete with the freaky orc that you saw on the silver screen almost fifteen years ago . . . but that's not because Azog is inherently lame. It's because we all have a ton of emotion and good memories wrapped around the first LOTR movies. Azog's CGI creation seems empty and I just can't connect with him. There was a murderous thrill in Lurtz's eyes when he ended poor Boromir.
